ITINERARY
Day 1
Touchdown in Quito
Stepping off the plane in Quito, you feel a surge of excitement as you breathe in the crisp mountain air. Your transfer awaits, smoothly transporting you through the vibrant city to your hotel.
Soon, you arrive at the welcoming Wyndham Airport Quito, where a comfortable room awaits. As you settle in, anticipation builds – the unique adventures of this Andean city are about to unfold.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals are not included.
Day 2
Arrival in the Galapagos: Highlands & Giant Tortoises
Your adventure in the Galapagos Islands begins! After breakfast, you'll be whisked away by the hotel's shuttle to the airport in Quito to catch your flight to the Galapagos (at personal expense).
Upon arrival in Baltra Island, the gateway to the Galapagos, you'll be met by English-speaking guides. Here, you'll get a glimpse into the unique history of the islands. Baltra Island was once a military base during World War II and now houses the archipelago's main airport, built with special eco-friendly techniques to minimize its impact on the environment. It was, in fact, the world's first ecological airport!
Next, you'll take a ferry to Santa Cruz Island, where your exploration truly begins. Your guide will pick you up at the port for a visit to the highlands, where you can marvel at giant tortoises in their natural habitat. These magnificent creatures roam freely in a private farm, allowing you to witness their fascinating existence up close. The afternoon offers a choice for the adventurous: you can explore geological wonders like lava tunnels or the Twin Craters, known as "The Gemelos," formed by dramatic collapses over time. The Gemelos are also a great spot for birdwatching, so keep an eye out for Darwin finches, Galapagos doves, and cattle egrets.
After a thrilling day of discovery, you'll drive to Puerto Ayora, where you'll spend the night at the Deja Vu Hotel, ready to continue your exploration of the Galapagos Islands tomorrow.
Dinner meals are not included.
Day 3
Morning Bay Exploration & Marine Life Encounters
After a delicious breakfast, you'll embark on a thrilling half-day bay exploration. A short boat ride takes you to La Loberia Island, a haven for playful sea lions. Snorkel amidst vibrant fish and graceful sea turtles, then spend some time interacting with the friendly sea lions.
Next, hike to the Túnel del Amor (Lover's Tunnel) for breathtaking views and a chance to spot resting white-tip sharks. Finally, visit Punta Estrada's dock to observe the unique marine iguanas.
Alternatively, you can upgrade your experience with a visit to Cerro Meza and enjoy kayaking at Garrapatero.
Lunch and dinner meals are not included.
Day 4
Galapagos Motor Yacht Tour Day
Set out to sea with an ex-fisherman, his welcoming crew and a knowledgeable naturalist guide (Local Galapagueno) for a full day excursion to experience the waters near one of the Galapagos' more remote islands. Recent history has transformed the Galapagos Islands, reshaping the local economy from one of subsistence fishing and small-scale agriculture to one where tourism employs some 40% of locals. We have worked with local fishermen to transform their careers from harvesting sea life to introducing the Galapagos' rich marine ecosystem to visitors while also helping to preserve them. Their livings are now made from sustainable tourism rather than fishing.
This full-day excursion includes snorkeling and swimming opportunities. These excursions are subject to change due to weather permitting.
Dinner meal is not included.
Day 5 Â
Farewell to the Galapagos
After a final breakfast, you will be transferred to Baltra Airport for your departure flight back to mainland Ecuador, arriving in either Guayaquil or Quito (at personal expense).
From there, connect seamlessly with your international flight or extend your travels with further exploration of Ecuador.
Lunch and dinner meals are not included.
